Academic

The Academic Department plays an integral role in MAMSA as we strive to assist all Malaysian medical students to achieve excellence in their medical studies. Our goal is to provide all Malaysian medical students with equal academic opportunities and resources. Since the establishment of MAMSA, we have managed to cater to the academic needs of our MAMSA members by organising a peer-assisted vertical study program (VESPA) as well as revision lectures that cover core medical topics. Along with these successful works, we also hope to organise group clinical practice sessions and pathology workshops that will equip our members with the necessary medical knowledge and skills needed in an objectively structured clinical examination (OSCE). Lastly, we hope to share our knowledge, support and empower one another in the hopes of producing a new generation of high quality doctors in the future.

Support

Social

The Social Department aims to cultivate a sense of belonging amongst MAMSA members through means of social activities as well as to offer a base for social networking amongst MAMSA members. We understand that it can be difficult starting a new life and learning new cultures in a foreign country without support. We also believe that a family away from home means a lot to students who have travelled all the way to Australia alone to pursue further education. Especially for first year students, we will go full gear in assisting a smooth transition into university life. Some social events that we have planned for the year include Malaysian festive celebrations, sport activities, beach outings, Amazing Race and plenty more! At the same time, we strive to reach out to Malaysian medical students in other universities in Victoria.

Empower

Training & Development

The Training and Development Department strive to provide members with personal and professional development opportunities. Our primary aim is to enrich life beyond medicine by offering unique opportunities that broaden our members’ horizon beyond medical school. In 2015, there will be a series of internship and careers talks focusing on the state of internships and future career pathways. An inaugural suturing workshop will also be equipping preclinical students with suturing techniques. We will also be coordinating clinical attachments in healthcare centres in Malaysia. Lastly, having stepped on the lands of Nepal and China and touched the hearts of local communities, we are organizing another mission trip that will be just as fulfilling and enriching, so don’t miss out!
